Uit een gerandomiseerde studie van totaal 234 patiënten met bewezen prostaatkanker stadium 3 en stadium 4, dus met uitgezaaide prostaatkanker, blijkt dat TCM - Traditionele Chinese Kruiden in de vorm van Jiawei Danggui Beimu Kushen veel betere resultaten geeft in vergelijking met bicalutamide - casodex. De 5-jaars overleving was voor de TCM groep 23 procent beter dan voor de bicalutamidegroep. Ook de IPSS-score en PSA waarden en kwaliteit van leven waren in de TCM groep al na 6 maanden, 1 jaar en 1,5 jaar statistisch significant beter dan in de controlegroep.

Voor deze studie werden totaal 234 prostaatkankerpatiënten geselecteerd en willekeurig verdeeld in observatiegroep en controlegroep, met 117 patiënten in elke groep.
  • De controlegroep kreeg orale bicalutamidetabletten, terwijl de observatiegroep op basis van de controlegroep werd behandeld met Jiawei Danggui Beimu Kushen-pillen.
  • De werkzaamheid van de behandeling, de IPSS-score, de TCM-syndroomscore, de VAS-score, de kwaliteit van leven score en de immuunfunctie van de twee groepen werden voor en na de behandeling vergeleken.
  • De serum-PSA- en f-PSA-spiegels van patiënten vóór de behandeling en na 30 dagen, 90 dagen en 180 dagen behandeling in de twee groepen werden vergeleken.
  • De cumulatieve vijfjaarsoverleving en de incidentie van bijwerkingen werden vergeleken tussen de twee groepen.
Hier de vertaling van de resultaten zoals vermeld in het abstract:
  • Na behandeling was het totale effectieve percentage van de observatiegroep 88,03% (103/117), wat hoger was dan dat van de controlegroep 69,23% (81/117); het verschil was statistisch significant (P <0,05).
  • Na de behandeling waren de IPSS-score, TCM-syndroomscore en VAS-score van de twee groepen verlaagd, en die in de observatiegroep waren lager dan die in de controlegroep; het verschil was statistisch significant (P <0,05).
  • Na de behandeling namen de kwaliteit van leven-scores van de twee groepen toe en was de observatiegroep hoger dan de controlegroep; het verschil was statistisch significant (P <0,05).
  • Vóór de behandeling was er geen significant verschil in serum-PSA-spiegels en f-PSA-spiegels bij vergelijking tussen de twee groepen patiënten (P> 0,05). Met de toename van de behandeltijd werden de twee indexniveaus van de twee groepen geleidelijk verlaagd. Na 180 dagen behandeling waren de twee indexniveaus van de twee groepen patiënten significant lager dan die voor de behandeling, en de twee indexniveaus van de observatiegroep waren significant lager dan die van de controlegroep; het verschil was statistisch significant (P <0,05).
  • Na behandeling waren de niveaus van IgM en IgA in de twee groepen verlaagd en het niveau van IgG verhoogd. Het verschil tussen de twee groepen in de niveaus van elke index voor en na de behandeling was statistisch significant (P <0,05), en het verschil tussen de twee groepen in de niveaus van elke index na behandeling was ook statistisch significant (P <0,05).
  • De vijfjaars cumulatieve overlevingskans van de observatiegroep was 69,23%, en de vijfjaars cumulatieve overlevingskans van de controlegroep was 46,15% (P <0,05). Er was geen statistisch significant verschil tussen de twee groepen in de incidentie van duizeligheid, vermoeidheid en gastro-intestinale reacties (P> 0,05), maar het verschil in de incidentie van dysurie evenals dysurie en hematurie was statistisch significant (P <0,05).




Conclusie: Jiawei Danggui Beimu Kushen-pillen zijn effectief bij de behandeling van prostaatkanker, wat de IPSS-score en TCM-syndroomscores van de patiënt effectief kan verlagen, de pijn kan verlichten en de kwaliteit van leven van patiënten kan verbeteren. Ze spelen ook een potentiële rol bij het reguleren van de serum-PSA-spiegels, het opruimen van tumorlaesies, het verminderen van postoperatieve complicaties en het verbeteren van gerelateerde symptomen.

Clinical Effects of Jiawei Danggui Beimu Kushen Pills in the Treatment of Prostate Cancer and Their Influence on the Expression of Serum Prostate Specific Antigen

Abstract

Objective

To observe the clinical effects of Jiawei Danggui Beimu Kushen pills in treating prostate cancer and their influence on the expression of serum prostate specific antigen.

Methods

A total of 234 prostate cancer patients were selected and randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 117 cases in each group. The control group was given oral bicalutamide tablets, while the observation group was treated with Jiawei Danggui Beimu Kushen pills on the basis of the control group. The treatment efficacy, IPSS score, TCM syndrome score, VAS score, quality-of-life score, and immune function of the two groups were compared before and after treatment. The serum PSA and f-PSA levels of patients before treatment and after 30 days, 90 days, and 180 days of treatment in the two groups were compared. The five-year cumulative survival rate and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.

Results

After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was 88.03% (103/117), which was higher than that of the control group 69.23% (81/117); the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the IPSS score, TCM syndrome score, and VAS score of the two groups were reduced, and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group; the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the quality-of-life scores of the two groups increased, and the observation group was higher than the control group; the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference in serum PSA levels and f-PSA levels when comparing between the two groups of patients (P > 0.05). With the increase of treatment time, the two index levels of the two groups were gradually decreased. After 180 days of treatment, the two index levels of the two groups of patients were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the two index levels of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group; the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of IgM and IgA in the two groups were decreased, and the level of IgG was increased. The difference between the two groups in the levels of each index before and after treatment was statistically significant (P < 0.05), and the difference between the two groups in the levels of each index after treatment was also statistically significant (P < 0.05). The five-year cumulative survival rate of the observation group was 69.23%, and the five-year cumulative survival rate of the control group was 46.15% (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the incidence of dizziness, fatigue, and gastrointestinal reactions (P > 0.05), but the difference in the incidence of dysuria as well as dysuria and hematuria was statistically significant (P < 0.05).

Conclusion

Jiawei Danggui Beimu Kushen pills are effective in treating prostate cancer, which can effectively reduce the patients' IPSS score and TCM syndrome scores, relieve the pain, and improve the quality of life of patients. They also have a potential role in regulating serum PSA levels, clearing tumor lesions, reducing postoperative complications, and improving related symptoms.
