HP de Tijd heeft mooi artikel over de waarde van vitamine D en vitamine C als preventie en als behandelingen bij het coronavirus - Covid-19.

Over vitamine D schrijven ze o.a. dit:

Vitamine D draagt volgens onderzoeken bij aan:

  1. Het verminderen van de overlevingskans en vermenigvuldiging van het SARS-CoV-2-virus;
  2. Het verminderen van de cytokinestorm door een afname van cytokinen die ontstekingen bevorderen en een toename van cytokinen die ontstekingsremmend werken;
  3. Het stimuleren van de aanmaak van antimicrobiële peptiden die envelopeiwitten van virussen kunnen vernietigen door elektrostatische interacties;
  4. Het intact houden van het maagdarmweefsel en longweefsel om binnendringen van virussen en bacteriën te voorkomen;
  5. Het stimuleren van de aanmaak van antistoffen en de activering tot B- en T-cel-geheugencellen die belangrijk zijn voor een langetermijn bescherming;
  6. Het verhogen van de expressie van ACE2 in de longen, een belangrijke receptor voor het SARS-COV-2 virus, die een belangrijke beschermende rol speelt bij hart en vaatziekten en ARDS.

Interessant is deze studie met hoge dosis vitamine C die niet is afgemaakt omdat er geen patiënten meer op de IC lagen, maar uitstekende resultaten laat zien voor hoge dosis vitamine C. :

Koudere temperatuur leidt tot meer ziekenhuisopnames  

Vanaf het begin van de pandemie blijkt dat de ernstige vorm van COVID19 vooral risicovol is voor kwetsbare ouderen met een of meerdere onderliggende chronische ziekten. Verspreiding vond hoofdzakelijk plaats in verpleeghuizen en ziekenhuizen (1). Zeventig tot tachtig procent van de patiënten die in Nederland en België met Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS, de ernstige vorm van COVID19) op de intensive care verbleven, hadden ernstig tot zeer ernstig overgewicht.

Na een periode van warmere temperaturen met minder COVID19-patienten en mildere klachten op verpleegafdelingen en Intensive Care, neemt het aantal patiënten de laatste weken in de ziekenhuizen toe. De behandelduur nam door mildere symptomen en betere behandelingen van gemiddeld 22 dagen naar gemiddeld 8 dagen af. Anders dan bij de eerste golf zijn nu allochtone COVID19-patiënten in vier grootstedelijke Nederlandse ziekenhuizen oververtegenwoordigd (2).

Met de koudere temperaturen is evenals andere jaren het risico op bovenste luchtweginfecties toegenomen.>>>>>lees verder
